Helping you work through your difficulties

I understand how difficult it can be to face problems like depression or bereavement alone. Keeping these feelings to yourself only makes the situation worse. My counselling in Blandford and online, gives you a dedicated safe space to speak about and overcome the problems you are facing without any judgement. I am experienced in using a down-to-earth, person-centred approach that helps people feel at ease and talk honestly about what’s on their mind – either at my private practice or from the comfort of your own home over Microsoft Teams.

To book your first session of counselling in Blandford and online, feel free to get in touch and we will arrange a time that suits you.

Areas of specialism

  • I have experience in working with issues around LGB sexuality.  Finding the right kind of help to explore your sexuality is not easy, which is why I am careful to employ a compassionate, affirmative form of counselling that acknowledges your struggle as an individual.  You can come to me with any issue, such as family problems, the fear of rejection, uncertainty over your sexuality or abuse in the workplace.

  • Depression affects many people, and often it feels like things will never get better. You might believe that you will always feel this way – that there’s nothing you can do about it. But this is simply not true. My practice is a kind, empathetic environment to work through these challenging emotions in a way that is comfortable to you. We will reflect on your thoughts in a curious, compassionate fashion, helping you to develop a different view of yourself and others over time.

  • There is no right way to grieve, and everyone goes about it differently. Nor is it a linear process. You might feel okay for a few months and then suddenly find yourself struggling. My role as a counsellor is to give you the time and space to explore these feelings in any way you see fit. You might be angry, depressed, or feel numb to everything, and all these emotions are perfectly acceptable. Letting yourself feel them and understand their role in your life is such an important part of moving forward.

  • It is common for people to encounter stress in their work environment. You may be struggling with the constant pressure, or need help understanding how you relate to others, how to conduct yourself, manage your feelings in this environment, or navigate relationships with any particularly difficult individuals. I know that a lot of people also work from home, which presents its own particular set of challenges, and I am here to help you talk them through.

  • Having low self-esteem is a common problem, even among those who are seemingly happy and successful. If you base your own worth around your achievements, or what others think of you, rather than your own intrinsic value as a human being, you will always end up feeling like you are not good enough. You may lose confidence, withdraw inside yourself, or never let yourself feel truly at ease. Our work together will be about giving you the tools to become empowered again and feel more like yourself.
